Dear colleagues,

It was great seeing so many of you this week at the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) Workshop!

Given the how the CCSS work connects to our Early Indicator focus (and the emphasis that DOE is placing on them), we are continuing our support it by hosting a workshop for a team of 3 teachers and 1 administrator or coach from each school on September 2. Our hope is that this team will be able to work with you to begin introducing the Common Core Standards to your full staff.

As a reminder, the DOE considers the CCSS its highest priority this year, and expects that:
1) all teachers will receive two introductory experiences
2) at least 20% of teacher teams will be dedicated to inquiry around the CCSS
3) all schools will develop a transition plan by 2011
4) the QR rubric will reflect the language of the CCSS
