FHI 360 PSO Bulletin - May 3, 2012
Hello all,
As I continue to reflect on all your work this year, I have been impressed with and have learned a lot by experiencing your creativity and your collective ability to think differently about stagnant problems. As we know the educational landscape continually shifts forcing school leaders to be agile and fluid. I believe what makes our network special is that we are connected by a core vision centered around helping children yet you all bring unique and innovative thinking to our community. As a recognition and validation of your power of thought and action you bring to our network and the children of our community, I saw this the other day at a school and wanted to share it. It is a testament to you. I hope it inspires you and provokes more thinking that challenges the myopic and stagnant army of the perpetuators of the same that we face every day. Please disregard the title if you don’t think it applies:
Here’s to the Crazy Ones
Here’s to the crazy ones.
The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers.
The round pegs in the square holes.
The ones who see things differently.
They’re not fond of rules.
And they have no respect for the status quo.
You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them,
disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them.
About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them.
Because they change things.
They invent. They imagine.
They heal. They explore. They create. They inspire.
They push the human race forward.
Maybe they have to be crazy.
How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art?
Or sit in silence and hear a song that’s never been written?
Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels?
While some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.
Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world,
are the ones who do.
Best,
Michael Selkis
